Red Ellen and friends earn highly visible profile

Its ales may be inspired by Tyneside’s shipbuilding days but there’s nothing “yesterday” about Jarrow Brewery’s new website. Designed and built by Sunderland-based lateral Advertising, it’s highly responsive, gloriously illustrated and hugely informative – with the project being handled by a through-and-through Jarrow lad, account director Ian McGregor.

The impetus behind the new website is the brewery’s ambitious plans to expand its sales throughout its North East heartland and nationally, working with other breweries, pub companies and wholesalers to ensure that Jarrow beer drinkers can enjoy their favourites even more frequently.

Jarrow Brewery was established in 2002 by long-standing publicans and Camra enthusiasts Jess and Alison McConnell and has now grown into one of the largest breweries in the region. Beers include Rivet Catcher (4.0% abv), Red Ellen (4.4% abv) and McConnells Irish Stout (4.6% abv) – all with strong links to characters and symbols rooted in the social fabric and industrial history of South Tyneside.

Jess McConnell said: “Historical figures and famous events have left their mark on the North East. The website gives an insight into the history of the brewery, our brands, and our exciting plans for the future.”
