Farewell to Cheers editor Alastair Gilmour
After 10 years leading the North East’s only dedicated pub and brewing magazine, Alastair Gilmour has stepped down as editor of Cheers North East.
Alastair, an award-winning journalist and founding member of the Cheers team, will be pursuing other interests having edited 98 editions of the magazine. He said: “After a fabulous 10-year ride, it’s time to step aside in order to pursue other interests. My heartfelt thanks go to the magazine’s brilliant and loyal supporters, and I wish the great Cheers team a prosperous future.”
Cheers publisher Gary Ramsay added: “Under Alastair’s editorship, Cheers has become a widely respected part of the pubs and brewing industry in the North East. We have had some fantastic times in the last 10 years, and have become the go-to platform for news and views from the sector. Alastair’s skill and dedication to the magazine has made Cheers a must-read publication and we will building on that success when Cheers returns. In the meantime, we wish Alastair all the best for the future”
Cheers North East, published by Offstone Publishing, is currently in a hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic. A new editor will be appointed ahead of the magazine’s return in 2021.
